For the second year running Haldane Fisher's annual football fundraiser, the Andrew McQuistin Memorial Cup, took place on Saturday 23rd July 2011. The event is held in memory of Andrew who worked at Haldane Fisher's Newry branch and who tragically died two years ago.

The day was a great success, with an excellent turn-out both from employees, family and friends. A number of teams competed against each other in glorious sunshine to win a place in the final, which was ultimately won by ‘Always comes second’; a team made up of Newry timber yard and office staff. Football was followed by a BBQ manned by Anna Lavery, music and disco afterwards. Great fun was had by all and the event raised just over £1,000 and still counting. Proceeds will be split between PIPS (suicide prevention charity) and the RNLI.

Our thanks go to Newry Hockey Club and to everyone who organised and took part in the event.
